How MTB Shuttles Work in Tremp: A Rider’s Guide

MTB shuttles are one of the best ways to explore the extensive trail networks around Tremp and La Pobla de Segur. By taking care of the major climbs, a shuttle day gives riders more time and energy for the long, varied descents of Pallars Jussà.
If you are planning your first shuttle-assisted ride in the area, here is what you can expect.
Where Do Shuttle Days Start?
The starting point depends on where the group is staying and which riding area is most suitable that day. Pick-up can normally be arranged in Tremp or La Pobla de Segur.
Trail selection may change according to the group’s ability, current conditions and preferred riding style. This flexibility makes it possible to choose the most appropriate terrain rather than following the same fixed itinerary every day.
Half-Day and Full-Day Schedules
Shuttle days generally begin at approximately 09:00.
A half-day normally finishes around 13:00 and can provide approximately 1,500 metres of descending. A full day usually finishes around 17:30, including time for a coffee or lunch stop, and can provide approximately 3,000 metres of descending.
These figures are estimates rather than guarantees. The number of runs depends on the riding location, trail selection, group pace and conditions.

Group Sizes
Our shuttle vehicle can transport:
Up to nine riders without a guide
Up to eight riders when a guide joins the group
Shuttles can be organized privately for your group. Solo riders and smaller groups may also be able to join an open group with riders of a similar experience level.
Do You Need a Guide?
A guide is optional, but recommended for riders who do not know the region well.
The trail networks around Tremp and La Pobla de Segur are extensive, and selecting the best combinations is not always straightforward. A local guide can adapt the route to the group, monitor trail conditions and connect individual descents into a balanced day.
Experienced riders with strong knowledge of the region can choose an unguided shuttle service if they prefer.

What Ability Level Is Required?
Pallars Jussà is best suited to intermediate and advanced mountain bikers. The region offers a broad mixture of blue, red and black trails, with a good balance between flowing singletrack and more technical terrain.
Riders should be comfortable controlling their bike on natural trails containing rocks, loose surfaces, steeper sections and technical features. Routes can be selected according to the group, but this is natural mountain terrain rather than a beginner-focused bike park.
What Bike and Equipment Should You Bring?
If you bring your own bike, we recommend a well-maintained trail or enduro mountain bike with at least 150 mm of suspension travel.
Every rider should bring:
A suitable mountain-bike helmet
Eye protection
Gloves
Knee pads
A hydration backpack or water bottle
Inner tubes suitable for their wheels
A compatible chain quick link
Spare brake pads
Basic tools and a mini pump
A spare rear derailleur hanger
Depending on your riding style and protection preferences, you may also want to bring a full-face helmet, back protector and elbow pads.
Check your bike before the trip, particularly the brakes, tyres, suspension and drivetrain. The terrain can be demanding, and carrying bike-specific spare parts can prevent a minor mechanical issue from ending your day early.

What Happens in Wet Weather?
Rain does not automatically mean that riding must stop. Tremp and La Pobla de Segur both have trails and terrain that work well in wet conditions.
However, some clay-based areas must be avoided when wet because of reduced grip and the risk of trail damage. Trail selection should always respect current conditions and the work of local trail-building organizations.
In severe conditions, including thunderstorms, lightning or strong winds, the guide may postpone or cancel the ride to protect the group’s safety.
How Far Ahead Should You Book?
Larger groups should book several weeks in advance whenever possible. This provides the best chance of securing the preferred date, vehicle capacity and guiding option.
Solo riders can contact us a few days before riding to ask about joining a suitable open group. Availability depends on existing bookings and whether the riders have compatible ability levels.
